The European Youth Forum AISBL is the Brussels-based platform of youth organisations in Europe. Independent, democratic and youth-led, it represents 104 National Youth Councils and International Youth Organisations from across the continent. The European Youth Forum (YFJ) works to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their lives by representing and advocating their needs and interests and those of their organisations towards the European Institutions, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
THE POSITION The European Youth Forum AISBL is looking for a new Policy and Advocacy Director. The Director is part of the senior management team and reports to the Secretary General. The Director plays an integral role in the development of the European Youth Forums policy and advocacy strategy and has the overall responsibility for its execution. The Director reports to the Secretary General and supervises and manages the work of two Team Leaders and their teams. The Director carries out the work in close cooperation with the other departments of the European Youth Forum as well as with the Board of the European Youth Forum.
➢ Leads and manages the Policy and Advocacy Department.
➢ Ensures that the outcomes and activities of the Youth Forums Implementation Plan are achieved in a quality and timely way.
➢ Develops the European Youth Forums Policy and Advocacy strategy and oversees its implementation.
➢ Ensures a holistic, consistent and coherent use of our Policy and Advocacy materials, methods, processes and policies.
➢ Engages with colleagues from across the organisation and the Board of the European Youth Forum to agree outcomes, objectives and key messages for activities, projects and events.
➢ Manages the work of the Policy and Advocacy department and ensure proper work distribution.
➢ Manages and monitors the departments budget.
➢ Ensures compliance of the department to the organisations human resources and finances regulations.
POLICY & ADVOCACY
➢ Sets, monitors and reports on the overall objectives and priorities of the Policy and Advocacy Department.

➢ Ensures ongoing and regular coordination with the Board of the European Youth Forum on priorities for young people across Europe and priorities of the European Youth Forum. ➢ Establishes and nurtures relations with member organisations, decision-makers, alumni and other key stakeholders. ➢ Ensures harmonious relationships within and between the relevant department(s); ➢ Ensures the implementation of Board decisions relevant to the Department.
Ø At least 10 years progressive experience Ø Higher education or professional degree in political science or equivalent Ø Strong experience in people management, with the ability to inspire, motivate, supervise and guide an experienced team Ø Proven track record at international level in developing successful strategic planning, policy and advocacy Ø Extensive professional experience in project management, preferably in a multicultural environment Ø Good understanding of non-profit associations international environment Ø Good understanding of a membership-based organisation, how to drive consensus in a large group of organisations and partners Ø Good understanding of, or experience in, decision-making processes of the main European and International Institutions Ø Strong advocacy skills at European and International level Ø Strong creative thinking and the development of innovative solutions Ø Advanced level in spoken and written English Ø Proficiency in French is a strong asset, any other EU language is appreciated Ø Ability to travel and to work flexible hours if required, including the occasional weekend Ø Willing to live in or relocate to Brussels or the surrounding area
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The European Youth Forum offers a full time (35 hours per week) contract of indefinite duration. The gross monthly salary (for an M3 position according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement currently applied at the European Youth Forum) is 3,825 Euros. A relocation package, hospitalisation insurance and other benefits are available. Travel expenses within the Brussels region are covered by the European Youth Forum.

Profile. Interviews for this vacancy will be held on 27-28 of November in Brussels. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an assessment centre as well as take part in an interview on the same day. The successful candidate will be expected to start beginning of January 2018.
